TAN Ming Kirk Richard
President Richard is a lifesaving teacher and examiner. He is also a council member of the National Water Safety Council and a director of the International Life Saving Federation. He contributed to the Handbook on Drowning (Springer, 2006) and the World Report on Childhood Injury Prevention (WHO, 2008). His awards include the Royal Life Saving Society' highest honour of Honorary Commonwealth Vice-President and the International Life Saving Federation's Citation of Merit. Richard works as a lawyer and is also an adjunct associate professor at the National University of Singapore. |
TAN Lii Chong
Vice-President Lii Chong is qualified as a lifesaving teacher and Grade 1 Examiner. His previous appointments include being Head of the Examinations and Accreditations, Head of the Training and Competition Unit and Honorary Secretary General. He holds many certificates including certificates for beach management (Surf Life Saving Association Australia) and AED Trainer (RLSS Australia). He has been the national team manager for many international competitions and has also been a competition official at many international competitions including the 2012 World Life Saving Championships in Australia. Lii Chong has received many awards including the Service Cross and the Honorary Commonwealth Life Member award of the Royal Life Saving Society. Lii Chong has an M.B.A and is currently a senior lecturer in Singapore Polytechnic. |
TAN Kiok Wei
Honorary Secretary General Tan Kiok Wei is qualified as a lifesaving teacher and grade 2 examiner. He represents Ngee Ann Polytechnic in the SLSS Executive Committee. Kiok Wei is also currently the Honorary Secretary General of Singapore Life Guard Corps and the Honorary Secretary of Ngee Ann Alumni General Committee. He has been an Alumni Coach and associate lecturer at Ngee Ann Polytechnic. Kiok Wei has received many awards including the Certificate of Thanks and the Service Medal of the Royal Life Saving Society. Kiok Wei has a degree in business from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology and owns a business that specialises in printing & embroidery of apparels and corporate gifts. He is also the managing director of a tyre distributor company. |
GOH Shiao Kwang Irwin
Honorary Treasurer Irwin is a qualified lifesaving teacher and grade 1 examiner. He is also chair of the SLSS Rescue Committee. Irwin took part in the 2001 Life Saving Society Malaysia Examiners’ Seminar, the 2007 Western Australia Aquatic Industry Conference and the 2013 Royal National Lifeboat Institution Future Leaders in Lifesaving Programme (United Kingdom). He is also certified as an AED provider and trainer and in pool audit by the Royal Life Saving Society, Australia. For his services to lifesaving, Irwin has been awarded Service Medal as well as the Bar to Service Medal of the Royal Life Saving Society. Irwin is currently an IT consultant. |
LOW Swee Ching (Ms)
Hon. Asst. Secretary Low Swee Ching is a qualified lifesaving teacher and grade 1 examiner. She is currently the only female grade 1 examiner with the Singapore Life Saving Society. She is also a member of Examinations & Accreditation Unit and has served as a competition official in many lifesaving championships including the 2007 Asia Pacific Pool Life Saving Championships. For her services to lifesaving, Swee Ching has been awarded the Certificate of Thanks and Service Medal of the Royal Life Saving Society. Swee Ching works in the finance department of an international shipping company. |
WEE Tui Yong
Representing: Singapore Armed Forces Executive Member by Constitution Wee Tui Yong represents the Singapore Armed Forces in the Executive Committee of the Society. Ronald obtained his Life Saving Instructor Certificate from the Royal Life Saving Society New Zealand in 1989 and is currently also a grade 3 lifesaving examiner. Tui Yong is also an international referee for table tennis and has officiated in many international competitions including Asian Games, Commonwealth Games, Olympic Games and World Championships. He was selected to umpire the Men’s Singles Final in the Athens Olympics in 2004. He is currently the Chair of International Umpires and Referees Committee of the International Table Tennis Federation. For his services to lifesaving, Tui Yong has been awarded the SLSS Certificate of Appreciation. Ronald is currently the Orientation Officer in HQ BMTC of the Singapore Armed Forces. |
CHNG Kiam Ghee
Representing: Singapore Sports Council Executive Member by Constitution Chng Kiam Ghee represents the Sport Singapore in the Executive Committee of the Singapore Life Saving Society. He is a qualified lifesaving teacher and grade 1 examiner. He has worked in then Singapore Sports Council (now as Sport Singapore) since 1973 in various capacities including managing swimming complexes and sport facilities. He is currently the Chief Lifeguard overseeing lifeguard matters in the Sport Singapore. |
CHONG Yu Yong
Representing: NUS University Lifeguard Corps Executive Committee Member Chong Yu Yong is the president of the NUS Life Guard Corps and a third year undergraduate in the NUS pursuing a degree in chemical engineering. He took up lifesaving and obtained the bronze medallion in his first year in the NUS. He then progressed further and began representing NUS in competitive lifesaving. His passion for lifesaving grew as he became more involved and he recently completed the bronze cross. In 2014, he co-organized the North West SwimSafer Day with the North West Community Development Council to promote the importance of water safety. Yu Yong believes that building a strong affiliate relationship amongst affiliates is vital in promoting lifesaving to everyone. |
TAN Khim Guan
Representing: Singapore Life Guard Corps Executive Committee Member Tan Khim Guan represents the Singapore Life Guard Corps in the Executive Committee and is also a member of the SLSS Examination & Accreditation Unit. He is a qualified lifesaving teacher and grade 1 examiner. Jimmy holds many lifesaving related certificates including certificates for jet ski rescue, surf board rescue, beach management (Surf Life Saving Association Australia), pool operations, pool audit and AED Trainer (RLSS Australia). Khim Guan has officiated at many lifesaving competitions including the 2007 Malaysian Pool Lifesaving Competition and the 2007 Asia Pacific Lifesaving Pool Championships. He has many awards for service including the Service Medal and the Service Cross of the Royal Life Saving Society. Khim Guan is currently a lifeguard trainer at the Singapore Sports Council. |
LEE Song Choo
Representing: Sports Eagle Pte Ltd Executive Committee Member Lee Song Choo represents Sports Eagle Pte Ltd in the Executive Committee and is also the Vice-President of the Singapore Life Guard Corps. Song Choo is a qualified lifesaving teacher and grade 1 examiner and a life member of SLSS. He represented SLSS to train members of the Swimming Teacher and Rescue Association (STAT) in Taiwan in 2002 and attended the 2011 World Conference on Drowning Prevention. He is the first Singaporean to officiate at the World Lifesaving Championships (in 2010 in Egypt) and was the national team manager at the Asian Lifesaving Invitational Competition in China (2011). Song Choo has received many awards including the SLSS outstanding lifesaving instructor award, POSB Everyday Champions Individual award (2009) as well as the Service Cross and Bar to Service Cross of the Royal Lifesaving Society. He is currently a director of Sports Eagle Pte Ltd. |
NG Chuen Ser
Representing: V3 Aquatic Club Pte Ltd Executive Committee Member Chuen Ser is a Lifesaving Teacher, Examiner & Technical Official, a Swimming Coach (National Registry of Coaches, & Federation Internationale de Natation), a First Aid Lecturer & Competition Judge (St. John Ambulance), a Basic Cardiac Life Support & AED Chief Instructor / Instructor-Trainer, and an Auditor of the National Resuscitation Council Training Centre Accreditation Committee. He is a Divers Alert Network Asia-Pacific Trainer, a British Sub-Aqua Club Nationally Qualified Instructor & Rescue Specialist, and he served in the committee of the BSAC Regional Coaching Chapter (Singapore). Chuen Ser is the Managing Director of an IT Consulting Firm and V3 Aquatic Club Pte Ltd. |
LEE Minghan
Representing: Yio Chu Kang Constituency Sports Club Executive Committee Member Lee Minghan represents Yio Chu Kang Contituency Sports Club in the Executive Committee. He is a qualified lifesaving teacher and grade 2 examiner as well as a Basic Cardiac Life Support and CPR+AED instructor. He attended the 2011 World Conference on Drowning Prevention in Vietnam. Minghan was a medallist at the national lifesaving championships, the assistant national team manager at the 2008 World Lifesaving Championships (Germany) and the national team manager at the 2012 World Lifesaving Championships (Australia). He has received many awards including the SLSS top lifesaving promoter award, POSB Everyday Champions coach award (2010) and the Service Medal of the Royal Lifesaving Society. Minghan has a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of London and is currently a business consultant |
